On the road adventures

16 May, 2016 New Zealand

New Zealand is without a doubt one of the most stunning locations on this planet. After a month on the huge land mass that is Australia one of the most welcoming things I found about New Zealand was it's accessibility and that unlike Australia this was to be a country I could explore the length and breadth of during my time there. That was to be the first of many truly breath taking discoveries.

Two days after arriving in Christchurch my friends and I hired a car, bought camping equipment and hit the road to zig-zag our way from Christchurch to Auckland. We crossed the South Island via Authur's Pass across to Westport, drove up the West coast, grabbed the ferry at Picton to Wellington, diverted via the Forgotten Highway up through Taupo, Rotorua and on to Auckland.

From sunrise until sunset these two islands are feasts for the eyes, mind, heart and soul.

To experience the true beauty New Zealand has to offer from mountains and rolling flat lands, thermal springs to glaciers, you need to get out of the cities and on to the roads - long, winding and glorious. The best treasures in this country lie not in the man made but in the natural richness both islands are steeped in.

For me I felt like I had never seen anywhere so stunning before, until I rounded the next bend in front of me, whether on a road, river or hiking trail to encounter yet another inspiring vista. From sunrise until sunset these two islands are feasts for the eyes, mind, heart and soul.
